Are you a superb Secondary Mathematics teacher who wants to support every young person you meet reaching their full potential?
Waroona District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, innovative, highly competent and enthusiastic teacher of Secondary Mathematics. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will be highly proficient in both motivating and engaging their students. Particularly, a proven capacity to do this in a culturally skilled way with indigenous youth is highly desirable.
Waroona DHS offers a Kindergarten to Year 10 education to our students. The school is situated in a beautiful garden setting close to the town centre and adjacent to a modern recreation and aquatic centre. The school attends Country Week annually and it is a much anticipated experience for our students. We operate a thriving Bush Rangers Cadet Program for every Secondary student. This enables the school to provide an extensive environmental program so our students have the opportunity to build relationships with local environmental groups and industry. These opportunities exist on our doorstop and give our students a distinct advantage over others in the development of environmental skills and knowledge.
Our teachers work as a cohesive professional learning team who are committed to sustainable school improvement. We make evidence based decisions about the best ways to continually support each student’s academic, social and emotional development. We are committed to using a range of pedagogy to explicitly teach skills and understandings and providing individualised opportunities to grow and learn. The successful applicant for this position will have an integral role to play in leading the improvement of numeracy and Mathematics for all of our students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
