Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Gardener - Handyperson to join their friendly team.
To be successful in this role you will have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy maintaining the grounds, gardens and facilities for the benefit of our staff, students and school community.
As the Senior Gardener - Handyperson you would be required to keep the school grounds, gardens and all sporting areas clean, tidy and clearly marked. In addition to operating equipment, you would also be required to perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department of Education's policies and guidelines. The successful applicant will have effective communication skills to help develop and maintain good working relationships with school staff and external stakeholders. A sound knowledge of safe work practices would also be highly desirable.
Kent Street SHS is conveniently located only four kilometres south-east of the city and the school has forged close ties with Curtin University, other Institutes of further education and industry partners. Established in 1940, Kent Street SHS was the first secondary school to be built on the southern side of the Swan River and has grown into a vibrant multi-cultural school over the years. The Rotary Residential College, located on site, provides an opportunity for country students to attend Kent Street SHS.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
