Looking to develop and grow within a new secondary school with close links to the community?
Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of outstanding Teachers of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
Suitable applicants for these positions will be expert, passionate teachers of HASS with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary HASS curriculum, from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses across arrange of ability levels.
Suitable applicants will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice to create an environment conducive to learning and facilitate educational opportunities which provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded, as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships.
Byford SC is an Independent Public School located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities, with our current cohort of 1200 Year 7-12 students. Byford SC has also become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities when in 2017 our inclusion facilities opened.
Byford SC has an established BYOD (iPads) program and a strong focus on ICT and STEM. The suitable applicants will be required to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia. This ‘Aspire’ program provides these students with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience. Teachers with a demonstrated ability to effectively differentiate instruction to improve student outcomes and challenge students to achieve at the highest level would be highly regarded.
The College invites any interested applicants to attend a Presentation and College Tour for prospective staff on Wednesday August 21 from 4:30 to 5:30. Members of the School Leadership Team will provide an information session on teaching at the College.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
