We are seeking an innovative and flexible leader to act as Ellenbrook Secondary College’s (SC) Head of Department – Technologies. As Head of Department you will become part of our committed senior leadership team and work collaboratively with staff, students and the wider school community to provide educational leadership through developing and promoting the College's vision and strategic directions. This would be an excellent opportunity for an aspirant leader. This position will manage This position will manage both contexts of Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies (including Business) staff.
The successful applicant will be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students, be an outstanding educator and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Essential to the position is the ability to communicate and ensure that college policy is applied.
Ellenbrook SC delivers Certificate II and III courses across a wide spread of vocational areas within the Technologies Learning Area. It is highly desirable that applicants for this position possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and have experience in the delivery of Certificate courses. Additionally, the successful applicant will require the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach in their learning area from yr 7 to yr 12. Experience with STEM and/or leading classroom instructional practice will be highly favourable.
Ellenbrook SC is a world class educational facility situated in the Ellenbrook Town Centre. Opening in 2007, the College caters to a full complement of year levels (Years 7-12). The College selects staff on merit; recruiting a team of dedicated staff to create, deliver and administer our teaching programs. We empower our staff to focus on academic rigour and teaching practices to further enhance teaching and learning across the College. We encourage creativity, initiative and teamwork.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
