Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team as a Home Economics Assistant.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated and well organised, with an ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve set goals in a timely manner. Strong communication skills are important as you may be required to communicate with adolescent students and staff on a regular basis and on occasion, parents.
Under the direction of the teacher, the Home Economics Assistant will assist in the delivery of planned education programs and implement individual or small group programs. You will also be required to use a computer regularly to complete jobs associated with such things as purchasing supplies, stocktakes and other administrative tasks as required. In addition, the Home Economics Assistance will be required to do laundry and cleaning.
Experience with fabrics, sewing knowledge, food handling and food preparation is highly desirable. The successful applicant may be required to undertake additional relevant training, such as a food hygiene course.
Newton Moore SHS is an Independent Public School (IPS) located in Bunbury, a coastal city 175 kilometres south of Perth. - Good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
- Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
- Ability to assist teachers in implementing education programs.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
