Are you a passionate, dedicated and professional English teacher looking for a rewarding career to teach in one of Western Australia’s top performing public schools?
Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up to the end of 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 and 2020 school year.
We require energetic and dedicated teachers with a practical understanding of Year 7 – 10 WA curriculum: English, as well as Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) courses. The necessary skills and knowledge to teach to the highest level in Year 11 and 12 ATAR English and Literature is highly desirable. Teachers with experience planning for and teaching Foundation and Modified classes, preparing students for NAPLAN and OLNA and knowledge of Special Education Needs reporting will also be highly regarded.
Applicants must be relationship-focused educators and demonstrate the strong interpersonal skills required to work in a large collaborative and supportive team environment. Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole-school approach to education. The capacity to lead curriculum development and meet the needs of students with a range of abilities is crucial to the role. A sound knowledge of how data analysis can inform teaching practices is necessary.
Applicants must also be invested in the effective use of digital technologies in the classroom. As a highly effective educator you will need to possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in lower school and the current Senior School courses. This knowledge, combined with pedagogical skills enables the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities.
Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, drawing its student enrolment from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population in excess of 2300 and approximately 200 teaching staff and 100 support staff on campus, it is the school of choice for many local and international families. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with an EALD background, special needs and gifted and talented students. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
