Full Time Member Positions

SAT is seeking expressions of interest to fill a

Senior Full-Time Member position and an

Ordinary Full-Time Member position

commencing on or after 3 September 2018

for an appointment of up to five years.

The State Administrative Tribunal is an independent body established under the State Administrative Tribunal Act 2004 (WA).  It has a wide ranging jurisdiction to make original decisions and to review administrative decisions made by WA Government Ministers, public officials, vocational regulatory bodies and local governments.

Members are appointed for a term of up to five years and are eligible for reappointment. Expressions of interest are sought from individuals wishing to be considered for appointment to one of the advertised full time member positions. Applicants to the senior member’s position must have relevant qualifications and at least 8 years legal experience. Applicants for the ordinary member's position must have relevant qualifications and at least 5 years legal experience.

Applicants will be required to have qualifications and experience suitable to decision making in the following areas:

  • Commercial and Civil, including the areas of strata titles, retirement villages, commercial tenancies; building disputes; and/or
  • Development and Resources, including the areas of local government, planning and taxation; and/or
  • Human Rights, including the areas of equal opportunity, guardianship and administration; and/or
  • Vocational Regulation, including disciplinary action and licensing in relation to a range of regulated vocations.

It is also highly desirable that applicants have qualifications and or experience in mediation.
