About the role

The State Solicitor’s Office (the Office) is seeking a capable, proactive and detail‑oriented Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the Office’s Work Health and Safety Framework (Health and Safety Management System).

Working closely with the Safety and Wellbeing Advisor, the WHS Officer provides administrative and operational support across the Office's WHS functions. The role supports the effective coordination and delivery of WHS activities, including incident and hazard management, risk management, compliance, and the maintenance of WHS systems and records.   

The WHS Officer contributes to the implementation and ongoing operation of WHS policies and procedures, supports hazard identification and risk management, and assists with workplace inspections and incident management. The role also supports accurate and timely WHS reporting to inform compliance and decision-making.

The position serves as a central coordination point for WHS administration, enquiries, reporting, training, and risk management support across the Office, contributing to a consistent and well-integrated approach to work, health, safety and wellbeing.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting work health and safety functions, including an understanding of WHS systems, processes and legislative requirements, with the ability to assist in compliance, incident management and risk management activities.
  • Strong administrative and systems capability, including maintaining accurate records, registers and databases, and supporting reporting and monitoring within a compliance‑focused environment.
  • Well‑developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, respond to enquiries and support stakeholders across WHS initiatives and activities.
  • A proactive and improvement‑focused approach, with the ability to contribute to WHS processes, systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
