We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join the Network & Infrastructure Division within the Track Branch. Reporting to the Principal Track Engineer, you will provide specialist technical writing expertise and play a key role in maintaining the quality, consistency and integrity of the Branch’s controlled documentation.

You will lead the development, review and continuous improvement of technical documents, transforming complex engineering, maintenance and operational information into clear, accessible content for a diverse range of stakeholders. Working closely with subject matter experts, you will identify documentation requirements, establish document standards and drive best-practice documentation processes across the Branch.

In addition, you will contribute to business improvement initiatives, including risk management, policy and procedure development, performance reporting and workplace safety outcomes. As a valued member of the team, you will help strengthen documentation capability, promote compliance and support the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient rail infrastructure services.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• Tertiary qualification in English, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience producing and editing high-quality technical documentation.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering specifications, operational manuals and technical information.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Well-developed analytical, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software applications.
• Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation within a regulated environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to produce accurate, consistent and accessible documentation.
• Experience implementing document control, quality assurance and continuous improvement practices.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available for 18 months with the possibility of renewal to a maximum period until 28 February 2028. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months
