Western Australian College of Agriculture (WACOA) – Narrogin is seeking a motivated Vocational Trainer and Assessor to join their college.

WACOA – Narrogin provides Year 10 to 12 students with a range of agricultural-based curricula. We are located on a commercial livestock and cropping farm of 1400 hectares on the outskirts of Narrogin, 195 kms south-east of Perth.

We function across four sections: Class, Farm, Trades and Residence in addition to being a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 50506). We have approximately 150 students, and these numbers will increase in 2027. Our students come from across WA due to their interest in our agricultural context.

The Role

The Technical Officer – Agricultural Instruction – Sheep – General Farm is directly involved in the day-to-day operation of the farm enterprises and the implementation of the farm development plan.

The successful applicant will ideally have sound communication skills and experience across a range of agricultural practices. You will play a key role in maintaining farm enterprises, including livestock management, cropping, horticulture, mechanics and building maintenance, while supporting the ongoing development of the farm.

Experience in sheep management and husbandry systems is essential. Experience in shearing, wool classing and/or wool handling is highly regarded, while skills related to cattle management would also be advantageous but are not essential.

You will work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared goals and display a positive, proactive approach to your work. Experience working in a training environment, ideally with senior secondary students, would be highly regarded but is not essential.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for training students in agricultural competencies leading to the completion of Certificate II and Certificate III in Agriculture. Support will be provided to obtain any qualifications required for the role if they didn’t already possess them.

Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.

The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal).

However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.

Level 1.3, $74,547 - Level 1.4, $77,574 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2024) + 15.3% commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)

Level 2, $79,604 - $85,350 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2024) + 15.3% commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)

Level 3,$89,464 - $96,043 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2024) + 15.3% commuted allowance (PSCA 2024)
