About the Opportunity

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Fleet Management to join our Finance and Procurement Services Directorate.

In this role, you will coordinate the acquisition, fitting, maintenance and disposal of operational, Government Vehicle Scheme and Senior Officer Vehicle Scheme vehicles, ensuring activities are delivered in line with government and departmental policies, guidelines and business needs.

You will lead the Fleet Management team, provide practical advice to senior staff and stakeholders, and contribute to the effective delivery of fleet services across the Department. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong fleet management experience, leadership capability and a focus on service delivery, compliance and continuous improvement.

 This is a full-time permanent position available for immediate filling.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate vehicle acquisition, fitting, servicing, repairs, maintenance and disposal.
  • Supervise and support the daily activities of the Fleet Management team.
  • Provide advice on operational, Government Vehicle Scheme, Senior Officer Vehicle Scheme and Senior Executive Service fleet matters.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on fleet costs, utilisation and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of fleet management policies and procedures.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, service providers, State Fleet and fleet maintenance contractors.
  • Support business improvements that enhance fleet performance and service delivery.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a large fleet management environment within a diverse and complex organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop people to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate and build productive working relationships.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A practical understanding of vehicle operations, maintenance, servicing, leasing and compliance requirements.

Motor Vehicle Trade Qualifications, an Automotive Trade Certificate, or equivalent relevant experience will be highly regarded.

Successful applicants will be required to:

  1. Provide a current national police clearance certificate incorporating criminal and traffic convictions and infringements.
  2. Hold a current valid manual Class C driver’s licence, including the ability to drive vehicles with manual transmissions.
