This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

Across the state, Regional Education Offices are responsible for supporting schools in the metropolitan and rural areas by promoting system initiatives, providing support and quality assurance and ensuring consistency in the implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the outcomes of schooling. Regional offices are also required to ensure that each school within their area of responsibility complies with the relevant legislation and policies.

Daily travel by car is a large part of the Participation Coordinator role to facilitate in person contact through visits to student’s homes, support services, providers, training providers and employers to provide direct support and optimise success of arrangements.

The Role

Participation Coordinators provide regional outreach and case brokerage support to young people who are disengaged, or at risk of disengaging, from education, training, or employment pathways. Working collaboratively with schools, TAFE, private training providers, support services, government and non-government agencies, and employers, Participation Coordinators help broker placements and identify suitable pathway opportunities for compulsory school-aged students.

In this role, the successful applicant will manage an assigned caseload within the Midwest Education Region and provide individualised case management, brokerage, and face-to-face outreach support to compulsory school-aged students, primarily in the senior secondary years, who are disengaged or at risk of disengagement.

A key responsibility of the position is to assess the needs of young people and develop high-quality, individualised pathway plans that incorporate career development and transition planning. This work supports at-risk young people to make informed decisions and successfully transition into appropriate education, training, employment, or support service pathways. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires effective engagement with students, parents and caregivers, school leadership teams, external agencies, and industry partners. The successful applicant will demonstrate cultural responsiveness, sound judgement, and well-developed interpersonal skills.

In addition, Participation Coordinators develop and maintain strong networks across youth, employment, education, and training services within the region. They are responsible for collecting and maintaining participation data, monitoring student progress, and reporting on client outcomes to support continuous improvement and positive results for young people.
