Vacancy Reference No. 735934

This is a Permanent Full Time appointment 75 at hours per fortnight, part time may be considered.

The Opportunity:

There has never been a more exciting time to work in the Intergovernmental Relations and Community Programs Directorate at the WA Department of Health.

A focus on wide-ranging and high-profile national system reforms across aged care, disability and health have created opportunities for the WA Health system to bring about changes that positively impact the health outcomes for our most vulnerable West Australians.

Join a newly established team driving change across WA Health. The Older Persons Unit provides system leadership and sits at the centre of aged care reform—combining policy, programs and implementation. From overseeing the Aged Care Assessment Program to leading engagement with the Commonwealth on once in a generation reforms, this is an opportunity to work on some of the most significant changes shaping aged care in WA.

We are seeking people who have proven experience in delivering strategic policy and/or projects and are experienced in leading teams.

Position Description

The Manager leads high‑priority aged care projects and programs, helping improve care for older people and driving results that support the Department’s objectives.

Eligibility to Apply:

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector.

We value the unique diversity of experience that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples, people with disability and people from culturally diverse backgrounds bring to our workforce.

WA Health is committed to growing the Aboriginal workforce as a part of WA Health’s Aboriginal Workforce policy. As a measure to achieve equality, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1985 applies to this position. Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

Other Conditions:  WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake a criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking a criminal record screening and integrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a working with children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employment health assessment. We may ask referees to comment on your integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour. Please note that adverse information does not necessarily disqualify an applicant but will be considered as part of the appointment process.

Employee Benefits:  In addition to the great salary our employees enjoy an amazing range of benefits which may include (in line with operational requirements):

  • 12% employer contributed superannuation into a fund of your choice. For further information click here
