Lead, teach, and inspire future surveyors in a hands on, industry connected training environment.

We are establishing a 12 month appointment pool for vacancies that may arise. We may offer permanent, fixed term, full time, part time or casual appointments, with the possibility of a further term and/or permanency.

About the role
We are seeking a motivated and industry experienced Lecturer in Surveying to join our team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality training across surveying qualifications, supporting students to develop both practical and theoretical skills in a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Surveying at NMTAFE combines indoor and outdoor learning, providing students with hands on experience using modern surveying equipment and technologies.

As a Lecturer, you will play a key role in fostering problem solving, critical thinking, and technical capability, preparing students for a physically and intellectually challenging field with strong employment outcomes. The lecturer’s primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess, and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake professional activities and activities related to delivery. To maintain high quality educational services, lecturers are expected to stay current with technological and industry developments through ongoing professional development, ensuring the provision of up-to-date information and advice to both the College and industry.

Relevant Qualification and Experience
To be eligible for employment you must hold qualifications in Qualification in Surveying or Mine Surveying and have at least 5 years industry experience.

There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).

Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however North Metro TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
