About the role
We are seeking experienced and innovative individuals who are passionate about sharing their industry skills with the workforce of the future. TAFE lecturers have an important role in delivering training excellence and mentorship, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their career pathway. Keep your network connections alive by collaborating with local businesses and industry to ensure your training programs, and the skills taught to students, are current and relevant.
As a lecturer, you will use your industry experience to teach skills employers want, providing a unique and innovative learning experience. Your primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements.
To be successful in this role you will have a Western Australian Electrical Licence and a Certificate IV in Engineering (Instrumentation) or Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation qualification (or equivalent). The successful applicant will also have at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position with an ability to facilitate and encourage learning.
There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).
Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however South Metropolitan TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
