This is a permanent full time vacancy.
About the role
Bandyup Women’s Prison is a maximum-security prison for women in the state, being an Assessment and Program Prison with a small Remand population, as well as providing complex mental health services in the metropolitan area. The prison recognises the unique needs of women in custody, such as their poor health, poor family contact, substance misuses, and histories of abuse, low levels of education and employment and their social dislocation. As a result, Bandyup provides a supportive custodial environment which is responsive to these complex needs.
The Laundry Officer is responsible for all daily laundry operations and clothing processes relevant to the prisoner living units and self care units and including the provision of productive work for female prisoners, undertaking appropriate training of prisoners working within the laundry. The Laundry Officer will ensure a clean and safe working environment that provides for women’s needs.
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
Successful applicants must have:
- A current ‘C’ class motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- A current valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent eg Senior First Aid) received from an accredited training provider with a minimum of 12 months validity remaining.
- Possession of a completed Chemical Handling Skill Set, or a willingness to undertake and complete.
