The Opportunity

The Western Australian Electoral Commission is seeking an experienced operational leader to join its Electoral Operations Directorate as Director Election Delivery.

Reporting to the General Manager Election Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the planning and delivery of State, Local Government and non-parliamentary elections across Western Australia. You will lead the Commission's permanent election delivery function while overseeing the mobilisation, direction and performance of a large temporary election workforce during election periods.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for translating strategic direction into practical operational delivery, strengthening election readiness, managing risk and governance, and driving continuous improvement across election service delivery.

Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will help ensure elections are delivered securely, impartially and to the highest professional standards.

The role offers the opportunity to lead large-scale operational delivery in a complex, high-profile environment while helping shape the future capability of the Commission and maintaining public trust in Western Australia's democratic processes.

About You

You are an experienced senior leader with extensive operational leadership experience gained within complex, high-risk or highly regulated environments. You have demonstrated success leading large operational programs, managing competing priorities and delivering critical services where quality, integrity and timeliness are essential.

You bring exceptional leadership capability, sound judgement and highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You are comfortable providing strategic advice to executives, managing complex operational risks and building strong partnerships across government, industry and the community.

You have a proven ability to develop leaders, strengthen organisational capability and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. You are committed to inclusive leadership and creating safe, respectful and high-performing workplaces that deliver outstanding public value.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, public administration, business, electoral management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Other Conditions and Eligibility

To be eligible for a permanent appointment with the WAEC, you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia. Non-permanent residents are only eligible for fixed-term appointments if they hold appropriate work rights for the duration of the appointment.
