We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
At Bungaree Primary School (PS) we proudly serve a diverse community and recognise that many of our students come to school with a range of educational, social and emotional needs. Our focus is on ensuring every child is known, valued and supported through high-quality teaching, strong relationships and a safe, inclusive learning environment. We hold high expectations for all students and believe that every child can achieve success when provided with the right support and opportunities. Our school values of Respect, Effort and Safety underpin everything we do and guide the way we learn and work together.
We are committed to building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and student wellbeing through evidence-based teaching and consistent whole-school practices including the Berry Street Education Model. We know it is important to work in partnership with families and the wider community to remove barriers to learning, celebrate student growth and create opportunities for every child to reach their potential. We value collaboration, continuous improvement and a culture where staff, students and families share responsibility for achieving positive outcomes for all learners.

The Role
The Deputy Principal is a key member of the executive leadership team, working closely with the Principal and middle leaders to provide strategic leadership that strengthens teaching and learning, student wellbeing and whole-school improvement. Successful applicants will play an important role in fostering a culture of high care and high expectations, where every student is supported to achieve success.
A key focus of the role is leading curriculum improvement through evidence-informed practice, instructional leadership and staff development. The suitable applicants will work collaboratively with teachers and leaders to strengthen curriculum planning, assessment and the consistent implementation of high-quality teaching practices. They will build staff capability through coaching, feedback and professional learning, using student achievement data to inform improvement priorities and evaluate impact.
The Deputy Principal will also lead the school's student services portfolio, working in tandem with student support staff to oversee attendance, behaviour support, case management, and partnerships with families and external agencies. Student wellbeing will be a central priority, with embedding the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) into whole-school practice and culture being a target for 2026 - 2027. The successful applicant will lead the development of consistent, relationship-based approaches that strengthen student wellbeing, engagement and positive behaviour while building staff confidence in trauma-informed practice.
As a collaborative and relational leader, the Deputy Principal will contribute to the school's strategic direction and daily operations, building positive relationships with staff, students and families while supporting a culture of continuous improvement, collective responsibility and excellence for every student.
