The role
The Office of the Director General contributes towards the successful achievements of the Department's strategic direction, ensuring seamless coordination and communication between the Director General, Minister’s offices, the Executive Leadership Group, external stakeholders and departmental staff.
As Coordinator Ministerial Services, you will be part of a fast paced and dedicated team at the heart of the department’s Ministerial operations within the Office of the Director General. You will lead, coordinate and monitor the timely preparation and delivery of high-quality Ministerial and Parliamentary correspondence, including, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions and Parliamentary questions, ensuring adherence to protocols, governance, and quality standards. This role will contribute and support key strategic department projects, including, budgets and annual reports, drawing on your experience and knowledge of Ministerial and Parliamentary processes, and working in complex stakeholder environments. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating and maintaining strong communication channels, providing informed advice, and driving high quality service delivery and continuous improvement across all Ministerial business areas.
You will bring to the team your expertise in developing and implementing communication strategies, quality control measures, and training in Ministerial protocols. Your ability to provide timely advice, undertake high level research, manage competing priorities, and build productive relationships while representing the Department on committees and working groups will ensure you thrive in this dynamic and influential position.
Key tasks within this busy and varied role will include coordinating responses to ministerial and parliamentary requests, providing strategic advice on ministerial and parliamentary processes and protocols, advising senior staff on and ensuring compliance with communication protocols between our Department, Ministers and members of Parliament and liaising with other government departments and stakeholders, amongst other key duties.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
To join our team, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, we will co-ordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.
