The Warren Region is home to the well-known D’Entrecasteaux and Walpole Nornalup national parks as well as the recently created Walpole Wilderness area and Walpole Nornalup Inlets Marine Park. Many other parks and reserves as well as significant areas of State forest make up the majority of the land that we manage. The landscape of the region include a diversity of coastal heath, tall karri forests to open jarrah and wandoo woodlands to the remnant Tingle forest. The region has wetlands of international and national significance, pristine estuaries and wild rivers.

Our key service deliverables are nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, and fire management.

We are currently seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants for the role of Conservation Employee – Seasonal.

Operating under direct supervision the conservation employee participates in a range of activities relating to conservation, parks and wildlife work within the department including prescribed burning, bushfire suppression and control, fauna and flora protection, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, support of tourism and recreational activities and the operation of associated machinery.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria, including, where possible the desirable criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.

  1. Ability to participate in manual activities related to the maintenance and construction of departmental assets, flora and fauna protection and fire suppression and control with a preference for someone who has an interest or experience in recreation and conservation management.

  2.  Commitment to adhering to work, health and safety procedures and principles; be willing to wear prescribed safety equipment and work safely with certified chemicals.

  3.  Experience in machine operations and or safe operation of chainsaws, brush cutters and common power tools. (Desirable)

  4. . Fire-fighting experience and certification. (Desirable)
