About the Role

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead the development, delivery and evaluation of internal and external communications strategies that inform, engage and support our workforce, stakeholders, and the communities we serve.

As Communications Coordinator, join a team of passionate professionals and work closely with executive leaders, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective communication strategies, campaigns, and resources.

You will play a key role in strengthening staff engagement, supporting organisational priorities, and enhancing community awareness of our services and initiatives across CAHS, Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology, Child and Adolescent Community Health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

This is a diverse and hands-on role that combines corporate and strategic communications planning with stakeholder engagement, written and digital content creation, branding, events, and occasional media support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic communications advice and support to the CAHS Executive and business areas.
  • Leading the development of key organisational communications, publications, and strategic documents.
  • Coordinating the production of high-quality communication materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to branding guidelines.
  • Managing internal communication channels, including staff newsletters, email communications, and promotional materials.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of internal and external events, workshops, and community engagement activities.
  • Developing marketing and promotional resources and liaising with external agencies where required.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across government, healthcare, and community sectors.

If you are an experienced communications professional with strong corporate and strategic communications and stakeholder engagement capabilities and possess the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes within competing deadlines, we encourage you to apply.

Experience working within the health, government, or public sector is of benefit, but not required.

How to Apply

Applicants are requested to apply online (www.jobs.health.wa.gov.au). Please note, applicants must have a current, valid email address in order to apply online. This email address will be used for communication with applicants.

Your ability to meet the work-related requirements will be assessed throughout the recruitment process.

For your written application please provide the following:

  • A statement addressing the selection criteria as per the Job Description Form in no more than 2 - 3 pages. (View the applicant information package and Job Description Form (JDF) attached for more information, including the selection criteria). (Please note that examples of how you have applied your skills, knowledge and experience help to demonstrate that you have met the selection criteria).
  • A current resume which summarises your experience, qualifications and how you can meet the position requirements.
  • Please provide the name, email, and contact details of two referees who can be contacted to provide a reference. Referees should include at least one individual who has been or is your direct Line Manager/Supervisor. (We will contact you to seek your confirmation prior to contacting your listed referees).

Within the application system you will also be presented with the following question. Please review the Essential and Desirable Selection Criteria outlined in the attached Job Description Form carefully when preparing your response.  The question allows you to showcase your relevant skills and experiences in detail, with a generous word limit of 500 words for your response.

  1. Describe a communications project, campaign, or initiative that you have led from planning through to implementation and evaluation.

In your response, outline:

  • The stakeholders you engaged with and how you managed competing priorities or perspectives.
  • The communication channels, tools, or products you used.
  • The outcomes achieved, including any consumer and/or organisational impact.

These documents should be complete and ready to attach prior to applying online. Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete the online application process as you will be required to answer various questions and attach your documentation.

Selection Criteria: Please see the attached Job Description Form.
