About the WAEC
Western Australia is a great place to live and deliver elections. And it is getting better as we transform the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) into a leading electoral service through modernising systems, strengthening capability, and lifting the experience for voters and stakeholders.
Elections might look straightforward from the outside, but behind every polling place, ballot count and result is a team that is calm, switched-on, and committed to getting it right. From State Elections and by-elections to Local Government and a wide range of community and private elections, we are always planning, delivering, and improving.
At WAEC, we are guided by four values: Make it Count, Check Every Box, Focus on Fairness and Achieve Together. We are committed to recruiting people whose behaviours, leadership style and approach to public service align with these values, recognising that cultural contribution is as important as technical capability.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to something bigger than an election -supporting trusted democratic processes and helping shape the future of WA.
The Opportunity
As the Communications and Media Manager, you will play a key role in shaping how the WAEC communicates with the public and stakeholders, supporting confidence in Western Australia’s electoral system.

You will develop internal and external communication products, support media engagement, coordinate responses to sensitive and high-profile issues, and ensure public messaging is clear, consistent, and timely.
About You
You are an experienced communications professional with strong media and issues management experience. You understand the importance of accurate, responsive communication in supporting public confidence and are comfortable operating in complex, high-profile environments.
You combine strategic thinking with a practical, delivery-focused approach. You are confident developing communication plans and content across multiple channels, advising senior stakeholders, managing media enquiries, and responding calmly to emerging or sensitive issues.
This role will appeal to a trusted adviser who builds strong relationships, thrives in dynamic environments, and is motivated by purpose and high-quality public communication.
