About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced nursing leader with a passion for aged care and delivering exceptional outcomes for older people?

The Carnarvon Health Service is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager – Residential Aged Care to provide clinical leadership and operational management for the Carnarvon Residential Aged Care service. This influential role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective aged care services that support residents to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

Working closely with and reporting to the Coordinator of Nursing and Midwifery (CoNM), you will play a key role in developing and implementing service goals and priorities, whilst leading a dedicated team to deliver person-centred care in line with contemporary aged care standards and best practice.

As the Clinical Nurse Manager, you will oversee the effective management of human and material resources, drive quality and safety initiatives, and contribute to strong governance processes that support excellence in care delivery. You will also mentor, support, and performance develop nursing and support staff, fostering a positive team culture focused on continuous improvement and high-quality resident care.

Suitability recognises that a range of factors contribute to merit, including skills, knowledge, abilities, behaviours, ethical alignment and relevant operational requirements. The suitability requirements below are derived from the Job Description

Form and define what will be assessed to determine your suitability for the role:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a commitment to maintaining professional excellence through ongoing learning and development.
  2. Strong clinical leadership experience with advanced nursing practice skills, including the ability to lead, support, develop and manage teams in diverse healthcare environments.
  3. Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, negotiate outcomes, and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Sound understanding of contemporary healthcare management and governance principles, including human resource management, quality improvement, risk management, and relevant legislative requirements relating to workplace safety, equal opportunity and service delivery.
  5. Current C or C-A Class Driver's Licence and the ability to travel throughout the region, including undertaking overnight stays as required to support service delivery across remote communities.

Area Profile: 

Carnarvon, WA, is a coastal town about 900 km north of Perth, nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Gascoyne River. Known as the food bowl of Western Australia for its tropical produce like bananas and mangoes. The town has a semi-arid climate, with warm winters and hot summers. Carnarvon is rich in Indigenous and maritime history, with attractions like the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore Quobba Station, famous for its rugged coastline and blowholes, or venture inland to the Kennedy Range National Park for hiking and camping.
