About the role

The Jobs and Skills Centre is a service offering free career, training and employment assistance as well as partnerships with industry. The Centre is a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to improve their skills and job prospects – including students, jobseekers and career changers. It will provide a culturally responsive service to Aboriginal people.  The Jobs and Skills Centre will also engage with the local community and industry to help build local prosperity.

The Client Engagement Officer (Career Guidance) is responsible for delivering high quality career development services to clients and groups of clients of all ages.

The Client Engagement Officer (Career Guidance) provides information on training and further education options to assist clients meet their career goals. The Officer also assists clients with their job search skills and assists to connect clients to work experience, employment and/or apprenticeship/traineeship opportunities.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have experience in career, training or employment services. You will have well developed communication and relationship-building skills, knowledge of education and training pathways, excellent organisational abilities, and a commitment to helping people achieve their career goals. 

It is preferred applicants have completed or are currently working towards completing a Certificate IV (or higher) endorsed qualification in Career Development. This may include a Graduate Certificate, Vocational Graduate Certificate or a Masters in Career Development.

Employment is subject to:

  • A satisfactory Department of Education Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
  • A valid Working with Children (WWC) Card, where applicable

  • A valid working visa (for fixed-term roles), or
  • Permanent residency (for permanent roles)
