Conditions
This vacancy will be offered as a full-time, fixed-term contract for a maximum period of 12 weeks.
A current National Police Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants for this position may be considered for "similar' vacancies within the Culture and Arts Portfolio and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be fixed term or permanent, full-time or part-time.

This position is located in historic Fremantle, close to the bustling cafe strip and the tourist sights at the Shipwreck Galleries, Cliff Street.
Job Description
Conservation treatment of the backlog of untreated Dutch and colonial shipwreck material and re-treatment of deteriorating, formerly treated, artefacts in the maritime archaeology collections, in particular non-ferrous metals.
Liaise with relevant curators to determine the optimum treatment conditions for the artefacts, provide storage advice and treatment options.
Document all aspects of the treatments performed on the objects and incorporate data into the central treatment database, perform routine photography and maintain accurate records.
Operate and maintain appropriate equipment associated with general conservation treatments and ensure that monitoring of the conditions of the objects takes place.
