This is a 12 month, fixed term, full-time appointment with possible extension or permanency.

 

LOCATION:  Broome and surrounding areas.

 

OTHER CONDITIONS:

District Allowance of: $3,285 (single), $6,570 (double/family) per annum. Subsidised housing and relocation costs may be available to the successful applicant if eligible.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Kimberley TAFE is seeking a Hospitality lecturer to fill a 12 month, full-time vacancy whilst the substantive occupant is on parental leave.The Lecturer – Hospitality and Commercial Cookery is required to deliver training to VET in Schools, Apprentices, Short Courses as well as being able to source and develop potential new clients and courses.

 

The successful applicant will be experienced in delivering Commercial Cookery and Hospitality courses as well as being qualified to deliver to diploma level.  Although the position is based in Broome, it will be necessary to travel to remote areas in order to deliver training throughout the Kimberley and Pilbara regions.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of the following criteria of this position:

 

Essential

  1. Current technical knowledge and competencies in the industrial vocation or professionalfield relevant to the advertised position. In this case, hospitality (commercial cookery).
  2. At least 5 years of vocational and/or lecturing experience relevant to the industrial vocation or professional field relevant to the advertised position. In this case, hospitality (commercial cookery).
  3. Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to work in a team environment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to facilitate and encourage learning using several modes of delivery.
  6. Demonstrated initiative and self motivation.
  7. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of Equal Opportunity principles and develop appropriate strategies to incorporate these into the learning environment.
  8. Understanding of and experience using information technology (including word processing, internet and spreadsheets.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • It is preferred that applicants already possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or a higher recognised teaching qualification) or can demonstrate progression towards Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. However, applicants without the above are still eligible to apply but must obtain the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within their first 2 years of employment.
  • Relevant Tertiary/Industry/Trade Qualification and/or any required licence or registration necessary to perform the role as determined by the College.In this case, a Diploma of Hospitality.

 

Desirable

  1. Previous experience with Aboriginal people and/or Torres Strait Islanders in a learning, business, social or community context.
  2. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
