The Corrective Services Academy seeks expressions of interest from experienced current serving Prison Officers wishing to undertake the role of Training Officer (Specialised).
Role
As a member of the Specialised Training Section, the Training Officer (Specialised) develops and delivers specialised operational training for the department, particularly in relation to safety, security, incident management and emergency procedures. Additionally, the Training Officer supervises, supports and advises trainees during training to promote and maintain an environment conducive to learning and to meet Departmental standards.
This excellent developmental opportunity will give the successful applicant the opportunity to gain formal qualifications (Certificate IV in Training and Assessment) during their tenure.
Apart from significantly developing their training and communication skills, the Training Officer will also gain exposure and experience in areas such as leadership, supervision, project management and working within a quality assured system.
Work-Related Requirements
Essential
• Demonstrated experience in delivering and assessing training to prescribed standards, in a variety of classroom and operational settings;
• Demonstrated competency and experience in operational skills. This may range from subjects such as, but not limited to, emergency procedures, safety and security, critical incident management;
• Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and coordinate a project / task within prescribed timelines and achieve outcomes;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills – demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and other Departmental applications.
Desirable
Possession of, or progress towards, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
All Department of Corrective Services employees are required to undergo a National Criminal History check.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be employed within the public prison system with a minimum of 2 years experience as a Prison Officer
The incumbent may be required to travel within the metropolitan and regional locations to facilitate service delivery.
