Open-Ended Pool Recruitment Appointment Statement
This is an “open-ended” recruitment Pool and as such the following should be noted:
- The panel will regularly monitor this advertised recruitment pool for applications, and will assess any applications received on a regular basis.
- Applicants assessed as suitable will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies arise. The pool will operate for 6 months from the date of the initial selection to the Pool.
About the Country Lawyers Project
The Country Lawyers Project has been developed by a collaborative stakeholder group involving the Law Society of Western Australia, the Aboriginal Legal Service of WA, Legal Aid WA, the Community Legal Centres Association of WA and representatives of Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Legal Services. The stakeholder agencies are committed to working together to develop solutions that will enhance services to clients living in country areas and to support lawyers in country Western Australia.
About the Positions
Positions are being offered on a fixed term basis for up to 3 years to meet the needs of Stakeholder Agencies in the Country Lawyers Program. The WA Country Lawyers Program is a great opportunity to fast track your legal career with comprehensive professional support, responsibility, diverse work opportunities, amazing life experience and a decent salary package. You will have opportunities for complex and highly rewarding work that can take years to access in a city location.
You will provide a range of services to the local community, in the areas of family, criminal and civil, including duty lawyer services, alternative dispute resolution, community development, legal advice and minor assistance and circuit travel and outreach. A district allowance and subsidised housing may be offered depending on the area you are placed in.
A current Drivers licence is a requirement for this position.
