John Curtin College Of The Arts is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2021.
John Curtin College of the Arts is seeking School Officers with a high level of experience and skills in a secondary educational context to join our collaborative team. It is highly desirable for suitable applicants to have good organisational skills and the flexibility to move between tasks as necessary. Suitable applicants will have the skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, use their initiative and work unsupervised in a busy office environment.
Other responsibilities may include undertaking reception duties, supporting learning areas as required, meeting and greeting visitors, answering the telephone and responding to routine enquiries and requests for information. You will ideally have previous experience in a high school setting, combined with experience using RM Billing, RM Finance, Integris, Compass, HRMIS and VET.
John Curtin College of the Arts is the premier school for gifted Arts students in Western Australia. The college has been offering programs for gifted and talented students since 1973. The college provides a specialised differentiated curriculum for gifted and talented Arts students and those identified as academically talented, providing them with opportunities for extension, enrichment and acceleration. In order to cater for the academic needs of highly able students, the college provides Academic Excellence Programs in humanities, mathematics and science. Students have the advantage of being able to interact with peers across the Arts and work in an Arts environment that provides many opportunities to learn.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements:
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
