Salary: MP Year 1-7 $131,299 - $175,977 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation and professional development allowance)

Position Profile: The Registrar – Trainee – Intensive Care assesses all referrals to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) deciding on suitability for admission, notifies the Intensive Care Specialist of admission and discusses management, initiates appropriate management, and arranges for investigations to be carried out. In addition, the Trainee Registrar will carry out procedures within capabilities after discussion with the Duty Intensive Care Specialist and document procedures in the case notes. These procedures may include intubation, central line, arterial line and pulmonary artery catheter placement, and tracheostomy. In addition, the Trainee Registrar will participate in peer review, quality improvement and clinical governance activities/seminars.
Successful applicants will be allocated to Sir Charles Gairdner, Royal Perth or Fiona Stanley hospitals with an option of 3 month rotation to Bunbury Hospital ICU to fulfil regional term requirements. Applicants will be required to preference the hospitals in order of 1-3 and this will be taken into account when allocating.
Area Profile: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) Wellington Street Campus (RPH) is a 450-bed tertiary hospital focused on providing a range of complex and elective surgeries for adults. Home to the State major adult trauma centre, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contribute to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
