About the role
As part of the Strategic Projects team you will join a dynamic, specialist area that services the Department of Justice’s portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives. The Strategic Projects area monitors and tracks all the Department’s strategic projects and initiatives, as well as provides advice, consultancy, and project support to business areas on project and program delivery.
As a Project Officer for the Strategic Projects area you will assist business areas across the Department in the planning and delivery of major and complex projects and programs. The Department’s portfolio of strategic projects includes Infrastructure, ICT, Policy, Operational & Business Optimization or Transition, and Workforce projects across the Justice portfolio.
As part of the Strategic Projects team you will provide project management guidance and advice to stakeholders, as well monitor and ensure delivery of the Department’s strategic projects portfolio.
About you
We are looking for individuals with a demonstrated ability in achieving results, and have:
- Experience in medium-large scale complex projects that involve significant business change.
- Experience in analysing large and complex data and information, and can use their problem solving abilities to develop strategic recommendations and effective solutions.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Organisation skills and the ability to deliver outcomes.

Pool Recruitment
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. When part of a pool you may be offered a permanent or temporary position, however an appointment is not guaranteed.
This pool will be open for a period of 18 months from the date of first appointment. Permanent and fixed-term full- and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise.
