We’re looking for
An experienced incident management practitioner to join our Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) team.
The Department of Transport is the lead Hazard Management Agency responsible for the responding to maritime environmental emergencies in Western Australia.
In this exciting and challenging role, you will provide effective leadership, direction and on-scene command to the MEER team. You will be responsible for the coordination of response personnel, ensuring skills and expertise are appropriately utilised. You will assist in the training and development of team capability to ensure responders are adequately prepared and equipped to tackle dynamic incident response situations and environments.
As our MEER Division Commander, you will also be required to assist in the development and maintenance the Department’s MEER Operational Response capability to ensure it is appropriately structured, equipped, trained and ready to deliver safe and best practice incident response. During non-incident times, you will contribute to ensuring adequate prevention, preparation, response and recovery arrangements are in place for Maritime Environmental Emergency hazards.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work well in high pressure situations, apply sound judgement and execute good decision making in an incident response environment. You will have experience in managing and coordinating the implementation of strategic and operational plans at the tactical level during incidents. You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working collaboratively within, building and coordinating tactical response teams to meet operational and strategic objectives.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity available for immediate filling.
We need someone who can
- Build and foster a strong and positive team environment
- Apply good judgement pertaining to risk management and safety oversight
- Identify problems and develop solutions whilst working under pressure in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
- Align tactical response actions with directed strategic and operational plans and requirements
- Apply contemporary response techniques during incident management
- Shape and drive tactical operational plans for the MEER team to ensure best practice in incident response
- Exemplify personal integrity and self-awareness
- Participate as a member of the MEER 24 hour on-call roster (including weekends and Public Holidays)
Successful applicants will be required to hold valid West Australian Drivers Licence.
