This is a six (6) month fixed term, part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing 27 January 2020 with a possible six (6) month extension
The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Division are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Copyright Officer in the Strategic and External Relations branch.
The successful applicant will be able to apply knowledge of the relevant areas of copyright legislation. They will possess the ability to engage with staff at all levels across the division, with diverse local/national/international copyright owners, and with intellectual property-related organisations and be able to prioritise multiple workload components within tight timelines.
The Copyright Officer will adhere to copyright compliance procedures and assist in the provision of accurate copyright information to division staff. The Copyright Officer will also identify opportunities to improve procedures and compliance.
The School Curriculum and Standards copyright team operates in a busy, stimulating and challenging area. The work environment is a collaborative one. The School Curriculum and Standards Division provide quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of copyright legislation, particularly the provisions relating to government use of copyright material.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight timelines.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Well-developed computer processing skills, particularly in the use of databases to accurately manage large amounts of information.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
