COMBAT SPORTS COMMISSION
Commission Member
The Combat Sports Commission is an independent statutory body with a vision to create a safer and healthier combat sports community in Western Australia. It assists the Minister in administering the Act through overseeing all contests and providing guidance and leadership to members of the industry from contestants through to promoters, trainers and officials.
The Commission is hosted in the offices of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries which provides executive services, administration and financial management, communications and advocacy and learning and development services.
Expressions of interest are being sought from suitable applicants who meet the criteria and wish to be considered for appointment as a Commission Member in early 2020.

Nine Commissioners form the board that has oversight of the Commission and its functions. From February 2020, the following Member positions will be vacant;
- A person who represents persons who are or have been registered as contestants in a class other than a class relevant to boxing; and
- A person who in has knowledge of the industry relating to combat sports known as mixed martial arts.
Commission Members are appointed by the Minister for Sport for a term between one and three years at the Minister’s discretion. Commissioners are remunerated through the payment of sitting fees at a current rate of $230.00 for half day and $350.00 for a full day.
