The Opportunity
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries are seeking to establish a pool of experienced Senior Procurement Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made as vacancies arise over the next twelve months from the initial date of appointment from this pool.
With substantial experience and knowledge, the Senior Procurement Officer manages and leads the Procurement team to ensure procurement within the department complies with Department of Finance works and procurement policies and State Supply Commission policies.
The Senior Procurement Officer provides professional procurement advice to stakeholders, and in consultation with stakeholders, develops tender documents\evaluation reports, and develops and manages medium and high-risk contracts.
Do you have what we’re looking for?
Working within the mission, vision and values of the Department, the position:
- Develops medium and high-risk contracts, including procurement planning, tender documentation and evaluation, in consultation and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Conducts business planning and scopes each allocated project, including identifying and progressing new contract opportunities.
- Provides specialist advice to internal stakeholders, contractors and potential suppliers on procurement planning, contract development and management issues, including contract renewal and extension strategies.
- Assists business areas define their procurement needs and participates in re-engineering of existing contracts.
- Manages medium-risk and high-risk contracts, including the development of contract management plans and performance indicators.
- Provides advice to business areas with respect to managing contractual risks.
- Liaises with stakeholders in order to resolve complex contractual disputes.
- Ensures the department’s contract register and exemption register are compliant with requirements.
- Maintains records on Tenders WA and prepares reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.
