The Opportunity
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is seeking to establish a pool of experienced Strategy and Research Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made as vacancies arise over the next eighteen months from the initial date of appointment to this pool.
With experience and knowledge of financial modelling, the Senior Strategy and Research Officer develops, implements, reviews and advises on policy relevant to the operations of the Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission.
Working with guidance and direction the Strategy and Research Officer undertakes a broad range of assignments and has responsibility for the coordination, administration and monitoring of activities and projects for the Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission.
These positions provide support and advice within a team environment to deliver Strategic Initiative branch outcomes.

Working within the mission, vision and values of the Department, the positions:
- Provide financial analysis (Level 5) and research support to the Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission to assist the allocation of Financial Assistance Grants to local governments.
- Plan, coordinate, evaluate, review and report on assigned projects and activities.
- Assist the Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission with the development of presentations and provision of information for public hearings and local governments.
- Coordinate the public hearings and consultation process of the Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission.

- Knowledge or experience with relevant policies and legislation for the determination of Financial Assistance Grants to local government. Tell us how you refer to, use and apply policies, procedures and/or legislation in your work, even if you have no experience with Financial Assistance Grants.
