About the role
Do you have legal experience leading and managing teams within a paralegal environment?
The State Solicitor's Office is seeking to recruit developing leaders of the paralegal industry to shoulder the responsibilities of managing day to day work within busy paralegal teams.
The Managing Law Clerk role is responsible for ensuring effective working relationships are established and maintained, and for the ongoing establishment and management of effective teams to ensure appropriate resources and support is provided to legal officers.
It also manages a range of difficult to complex legal files, and provides constant paralegal assistance to senior legal officers in legal matters of a complex and sensitive nature.
These positions are primarily available in our Litigation practice team, however potential opportunities may also become available in the Native Title and State Lands and Commercial practice teams during the term of this pool.
About you
To be a good fit for this role you will require excellent communication skills, together with proven working knowledge and experience in procedural law relevant to Civil Litigation.
It is essential that you have sound knowledge and experience in both:
- the management of teams within a legal environment; and
- the management of legal matters.
Though these positions do not require the occupant to hold formal qualifications it is reasonable to expect that you have, or are undertaking, some form of related study.

Pool Recruitment
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. When part of a pool you may be offered a permanent or temporary position, however an appointment is not guaranteed.
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the date of first appointment. Permanent and fixed-term full-time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise.
