About the role
Do you have legal experience working in a paralegal environment?
The State Solicitor's Office is recruiting experienced Law Clerks and Paralegals seeking to further their career.
The Senior Law Clerk role provides paralegal assistance and manages a range of legal files for managing law clerks and legal officers that are considered to be moderate in complexity. The Senior Law Clerk demonstrates some autonomy in the conduct of their work, subject to the complexity and sensitivity of the matter.
These positions are primarily available in our Litigation practice team, however potential opportunities may also become available in the Native Title and State Lands and Commercial practice teams during the term of this pool.
About you
To be a good fit for this role you will require excellent communication skills, together with highly developed organization and problem solving skills. You must also be able to demonstrate your experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policy and procedures.
It is essential that you have substantial hands on experience working in a legal environment as a law clerk, paralegal, court officer, registry officer, legal secretary or similar.
Though these positions do not require the occupant to hold formal qualifications it is reasonable to expect that you have, or are undertaking, some form of related study.
Please note, this role does not meet the work placement requirements for a law graduate diploma in legal practice. Pool Recruitment
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. When part of a pool you may be offered a permanent or temporary position, however an appointment is not guaranteed.
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the date of first appointment. Permanent and fixed-term full-time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise.
