Coastal Lakes College is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Inclusive Education (Education Support) teacher with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will have in depth knowledge of diagnostic testing and intervention programs. As an expert practitioner you will have demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, ensuring the learning needs of all students are met. All students will have a meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plan that not only outlines functional curriculum objectives but supports the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills and Protective Behaviours curriculum. Knowledge of SEN RTP, ABLEWA and ASDAN is desirable.
Coastal Lakes College caters for students within the Inclusive Education Hub and students in the mainstream college. Ideally you will be a flexible, adaptive teacher and have specialist knowledge and skills related to students with moderate to severe disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Experience in supporting students with complex communication needs is desirable. Successful applicants should be able to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students. You will support the development of innovative classroom practices utilising the college’s cutting edge Information Technology (IT) infrastructure to provide integrated, personalised, authentic and relevant learning experiences for students. A commitment to the college’s emphasis on pastoral care and co-curricular programs will be essential as well as active promotion of the college’s vision, motto and values within the college and the wider community. A key indicator of success of the program will be positivity and engagement from students and parents.
Coastal Lakes College located in Lakelands, a south western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah, opened in 2019 and will cater for students in Year 7 and 8 in 2020. It is a new and innovative college which includes an Inclusive Education hub for students with moderate to severe and profound disabilities and will cater for students in Years 7-12 by 2024 across the college. All successful applicants to Coastal Lakes College may potentially teach Inclusive Education students within their learning area.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
