Eaton Community College is seeking to appoint a Student Support Coordinator to coordinate the Student Support Program.
The role of the Student Support Coordinator is to establish and maintain professional links between the student, the family, the college/school and other appropriate agencies in the community. You will assist the School Administration team in crisis management by providing relevant and appropriate strategies and support as required.
Eaton CC was opened in 2003 as a Year 7 - 10 Middle School. The College moved to a more traditional Year 7 - 12 Senior High School in 2009 and now caters for students across these 6 year groups. The College aims to address the emotional, social, intellectual and academic needs specific to young teenagers. The environment promotes in students a feeling of self-worth and confidence while also provided a quality educational experience.
The College site is adjacent to the Glen Huon Primary School and close to community facilities such as the Eaton Fair shopping centre, Dardanup Shire Offices and a community oval, placing it in the heart of the Eaton Community. The site contains significant wetlands of two hectares that form the focal point of the buildings, as well as spacious, well landscaped gardens and lawns that provide a beautiful and healthy environment for active, growing students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- well developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, negotiate and resolve conflict
- well developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- well developed research, conceptual and analytical skills and experience in identifying problems and developing appropriate intervention strategies and support programs.
- skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties.
- knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Possess a Tertiary qualification in the Social or Behavioural Science area;
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
