This part-time (0.7 FTE - 52.5 Hrs F/N) contract/secondment opportunity is offered up to 30 June 2020 with the possibility of extension. This position is temporarily vacant whilst the substantive occupant is on approved leave.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This role plans, develops, implements and evaluates complex vocational rehabilitation programs to enable ill and injured employees to return to their full vocational competence.

Qualification
- Possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Exercise Physiology and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Experience
- A minimum 12 months in providing advice and consulting with personnel and management on vocational rehabilitation matters. Reviews and assesses complex or protracted vocational rehabilitation assessments, investigations and interventions. Proven record of providing excellent customer service. Commitment to ongoing professional development
Legislation
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of injury management. Applying relevant injury management legislation
Communication
- Presenting messages in a clear, concise manner to bring awareness and influence change. Focusing on key points and uses appropriate language. Seeking to understand the audience and tailoring style and message accordingly
Interpersonal
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships within the team, clients internal, and external stakeholders and health care professionals. Liaising and consulting with a range of personnel in various contexts to ensure quality deliverables
Drivers licence
- Possession of a current WA motor drivers licence class “C” or “CA” (Driving Agency vehicles to meet clients).
Please note: In addition to physical injury case management, the Vocational Rehabilitation consultant is also responsible for managing police personnel with mental health issues / psychological / psychiatric conditions. Given this requirement, applicants who can also possess experience in managing mental health issues are encouraged to demonstrate this experience through the application process.
An applicant’s ability to demonstrate considerable experience in managing the mental health issues for personnel with psychiatric conditions, in addition to physical injury case management is an important component of this advertised role and will be weighted accordingly.
Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the division. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
