This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join our judicial support team at the Family Court of Western Australia.
The position of Magistrate’s Secretary is responsible for:
- Preparing matter files for hearing and management of court proceedings.
- Production of court orders, judgments and correspondence as directed by the Magistrate both in and out of court.
- Acting as a point of contact for legal practitioners and parties.
- Maintaining accurate court records both paper based and digital via the Courts case management system.
The successful applicant will be required to accompany the magistrate on circuit to towns in regional Western Australia.
About you
Ideally you would have worked in a similar type of role where you have used your secretarial and administrative skills, including audio typing to meet service standards.
The position requires someone who is confident, professional, well organised and proud of the work they produce. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a strong attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

Pool Recruitment
The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. When part of a pool you may be offered a permanent or temporary position, however an appointment is not guaranteed.
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the date of first appointment. Permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise.
Currently there are two fixed term contract(s) available for immediate filling.
