Kalbarri District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint an engaging and committed teacher of Design & Technology and Physical Education.
The suitable applicant will have experience in secondary Design and Technology, teaching predominantly woodwork and metalwork knowledge and skills. The preferred applicant will show a willingness to teach digital technologies and STEM. The preferred applicant will also have a willingness and skills to assist with the Physical Education program in Primary and Secondary classes. As we are a District High, the successful applicant should demonstrate willingness to teach primary general classes to make up their full time position. An F endorsement bus licence or willingness to obtain one is extremely desirable as the applicant may be required to organise and supervise camps and excursions.
The successful applicant will reflect an effective teaching practice, promote an environment of active, creative and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Kalbarri DHS is sited in the picturesque tourist town of Kalbarri. We are surrounded by a National Park and the township is located at the mouth of the Murchison River. The permanent population of the town is around 2,000, with the population rising up to 10,000 during the “tourist season”. The community is reliant on tourism, service industries and the fishing industry. As a District High School we have students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and all staff have the opportunity to interact with students of all ages.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
