This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 5 years.
About the position: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high quality candidate to provide leadership on the delivery of medical services and other clinical services (excluding nursing) for Royal Perth Bentley Group as well as the wider EMHS.
In the position’s capacity as a member of the Executive team at RPBG you will be responsible for providing inspirational executive and professional leadership in the delivery of clinical services at Royal Perth and Bentley Hospitals. This includes leading innovation, change programs and reconfiguration which will result in the transformation of clinical services.
Reporting to the Chief Executive of the EMHS this role (in the capacity of EMHS Director of Clinical Services), also acts as the Health Service’s, Chief Medical executive providing strategic leadership and advice to ensure the achievement of high standards of practice, clinical care, teaching, training and research, and ensuring these are supported by appropriate clinical governance mechanisms. In this role you will also be responsible for providing medical advice on matters associated with public/private partnerships (PPP) - including Midland Public Hospital and on medical issues and standards of practice across the EMHS. This will include medico-legal matters, ethical responsibilities and governance, accreditation, credentialing and scope of practice.
We are looking to appoint a candidate with proven senior clinical leadership capability and a track record of operating in a complex health service environment, including a tertiary hospital setting. You will have demonstrated strategic operating skills and a history of effectively functioning in complex organisations to create productive and dynamic work environments. Excellent relationship building skills and your demonstrated success dealing with high levels of complexity and developing innovative solutions within such a context will be critical to your success in this role. You will also possess exceptional stakeholder management skills across a diverse range of people and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Eligibility for registration as a Specialist Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) is an essential requirement.
Please note: This position is a dual role encompassing Director Clinical Services for RPBG (0.7FTE) and Area Director of Clinical Services for EMHS (0.3FTE)
Area Profile: The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 670,000 Western Australians in its catchment area.
Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women’s, children’s and neonates services.
