Appointment Pool
Leeming Senior High School Education Support Centre (SHS:ESC) are seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year.
Leeming SHS:ESC are looking for self-motivated applicants who can use their initiative and work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Good interpersonal skills are essential along with attention to detail, the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
The suitable applicants will have a positive outlook and a willingness to learn on the job. They will have flexibility to manage situations as they arise and be prepared to seek support if needed.
The School Officer is responsible for completing a variety of administrative duties which require skills using word processing and software data packages. Other responsibilities will include reception duties such as meeting and greeting visitors, responding to enquiries and maintaining student records. As the first point of contact, the successful applicant must have a customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills and be professionally presented. Applicants with experience in the financial and human resource management of a school including the maintenance of facilities and recording and monitoring of assets and resources to assist the Manager Corporate Services will be highly regarded. Competence in the use of RM Billing, RM Finance and HRMIS is preferred but not essential.
As part of the Workplace Learning Team the School Officer will be responsible for generating relevant paper work and maintaining student records. They will be required to mail merge documents through Reporting to Parents to generate paperwork for parents and employers. Essential skills include; Excel, word processing and communication skills. The successful applicant must be flexible and have the ability to adapt and prioritise tasks demonstrating attention to detail.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
