Appointment Pool
Yanchep Secondary College (SC) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up to the end of Term 1 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year up to the end of Term 1 2020.
The successful applicant will prepare the classroom and workshop to enable the classroom teacher to instruct students effectively, prepare specialised equipment and materials and provide operational advice for design and technology classes. You will design and construct teaching aids to meet standards that support teaching and curriculum requirements. The successful applicant will maintain and assess technical equipment, carry out repairs and maintain the design and technology equipment, complete stock takes and order supplies.
Yanchep SC is a new site with a growing population. It has state of the art facilities which supports a wide range of learning and student development. This position allows the applicant to work alongside the design and technology department as the school continues to grow and expand. The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience in technical industrial equipment within a design and technology class. You will have the knowledge and understanding of the WA OSH ACT 1984, knowledge of Design and technology subjects in secondary school. The successful applicant will have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all stakeholders. You will have good organisational and time management along with the understanding of working with wood and metalwork machinery and resource supplies management.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Knowledge, skills and experience in operating technical/industrial equipment within a design and technology workshop/class or similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and its coverage in industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Design and Technology subjects relevant to secondary schools.
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Hold a Certificate III in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
