- Significant Scale & Complexity – Diversity of Challenge & Opportunity to Influence Outcomes
This is an incredibly exciting time for hands-on, high performing, senior executives to join the recently restructured Department of Justice and lead critical functional areas into the future. In a dynamic environment, with keen political, media and community oversight, you will play a vital role in contemporising standards, processes and service delivery, to deliver change.
Work collaboratively across the justice system, government, peak bodies and with other key stakeholders to shape outcomes for the fourth largest government department in WA.
Role
With safer prisons as the ultimate goal, this critical role will enhance security outcomes across the State, and deliver whole-of-system improvement. You will raise the standard and quality of both the physical environment and the procedural, to enhance consistency and user effectiveness, align with contemporary expectations and best-practice, and produce leaders of the future.
Whilst greater standardisation is critical, your approach will demonstrate the importance of knowledge sharing and understanding the differences in each prison. Deliver procedures that are appropriate for the circumstances and the uniqueness of cohorts / geography / infrastructure. Prioritise the collection of operational intelligence for prison safety and use by corrections, so the identification of themes and trends mitigate future issues and risk on the inside.
Develop a proactive and structured approach to building capability in people over the long term, and embed it through recruitment, leadership development, and integrated and optimised operational services. Set the standards, own the implementation and create visible and long-lasting benefit.
Your Skills and Experience
Strong track record in developing and implementing operational and tactical policies, procedures and plans in a corrections or related environment.
Strong experience in strategic program development, implementation and evaluation of security infrastructure systems in a large, complex and diverse organisation and in the development and implementation of major security controls.
