About The Role:
Through its regional offices, the Department of Finance, Building Management and Works provides comprehensive and professional project management, procurement and contracting services to agencies in regional Western Australia, with the added focus of supporting regional suppliers.
The services encompass the facilitation of the delivery of building maintenance services, the provision of contracting and management advice, the management of improvement and major works projects, and the assistance with long term planning for both services and assets, along with the procurement of goods and services for regional government agencies.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role sits within Building Management and Works providing services and support to agencies and suppliers in regional Western Australia. The role is responsible for providing comprehensive and professional building infrastructure project delivery including the project management of medium
to large risk and medium large value projects, focusing on maintaining effective stakeholder engagement.
Robust leadership skills are required to manage project teams of in-house and private sector professionals in order to plan, deliver and maintain buildings for Government to the highest standard.
Some travel, including overnight stay(s) will be required in this role.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have an appreciation of challenges that exist in the delivery of projects (primarily building and construction), maintenance and related services within a regional environment, operating across a large and dispersed geographical area.
You will use your extensive leadership and management skills to guide and support the Department’s service delivery outcomes with a team dispersed across two locations (Karratha and South Hedland) and have a proven track record dealing with trades and subcontractors.
The Senior Project Manager (Pilbara) operates with a great deal of autonomy, is expected to ensure adherence to the department’s management systems and processes and is required to be the face of the Department in interactions with client agencies and contractors.

Currently there is one (1) permanent full-time position available for filling located in Karratha or South Hedland. Whilst this selection process will initially be used to appoint to this advertised vacancy, it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that may arise in the Northern Region (Kimberley and Pilbara) within the next twelve (12) months on a full-time, permanent or fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
