Hedland Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Business Support Officer to join their friendly and motivated team.
As the successful applicant you will utilise your initiative and be able to work independently as well as work collaboratively within a team. Hedland SHS is a large and busy Independent Public School, therefore good interpersonal skills are essential along with attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible and adapt to other roles within the school.
The Business Support officer assists the Manager Corporate Services in the administrative, financial, marketing, corporate sponsorship, physical and human resources aspects of the school's operations as well as assists in preparing and monitoring the school budget and develops and maintains business and information management systems. You will also support the Manager Corporate Services in undertaking financial planning, monitoring, research, reporting and analysis to meet established objectives and outcomes relative to business needs and plans and contribute and assist in the production of the school’s Annual Report.
The successful applicant will assist with the development and maintenance of effective networks with stakeholders to promote the school and provide operational support in the development, implementation and management of marketing strategies and plans.
It is critical that the successful applicant has a good eye for detail and the ability to work through tasks in a systematic manner to ensure deadlines are met and data systems are maintained to the required high standards.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
- well-developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and ability to use relevant software applications

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
