Successful applicants will have a high focus on the transformative power of relationships – between you and your colleagues, between you and your students and between the school and community. You have a ‘Growth Mindset’, a commitment to showing initiative, flexibility and creative ‘solutions-focused’ thinking to produce the best opportunities for the students in your care.
We are seeking applicants who:

- Have an ability to develop strong relationships that lead to improved student outcomes

- Will commit to our whole school Positive Behaviour Support strategies and curriculum, embedding them into classroom routines
- Desire leadership roles and responsibilities beyond their own classrooms. The support and opportunity is available at our school to develop your leadership skills as a valued member of our team.
We are committed to considering high-performing Graduate Educators who can demonstrate these skills and values through practicum placements.
Highly valued knowledge and understandings, and application of these in educational settings include:
- Trauma informed practice
- Frameworks for understanding poverty
- Talk 4 Writing
- Synthetic Phonics and/or Phonological Awareness
Familiarity with the specific programs, strategies and resources we use is an advantage, but not essential as the successful applicant will be supported to master these approaches.
Meekatharra DHS has a strong, established PBS approach, focused on our COOL values of respect for Community, Others, Oneself and Learning. Almost 90% of our students are Aboriginal, so the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is at the centre of our decision-making for students and families. A commitment to the beliefs and values of the school is essential.
Meekatharra is located in the beautiful Murchison region. Students and families at our school are proud to live ‘on country’ and make the most of the rich natural beauty and resources that surround us. The school is small but strong, and the teaching group includes both graduates and highly experienced, local staff.
